After Elon Musk expressed his opinion on Twitter about repeatedly released violent offenders, all of Germany is now discussing a possible "judicial revolution." The Tesla CEO proposes that judges who repeatedly release violent criminals should be removed from office.
Judges or Fortune Tellers?
Musk argues that judges should not only decide on guilt or innocence in the future, but also predict the future criminal behavior of their defendants. "If they can't do that, maybe they should become fortune tellers instead of judges," he tweeted in a follow-up post. Critics accuse him of questioning the independence of the judiciary.
Supporters celebrate Musk as a courageous visionary who is finally shaking up the justice system. "Finally someone is speaking plainly," commented one user. "Maybe next he should check the judges' school grades too."
The judges' association reacted with incomprehension to the demands. "We can't see into the future," a spokesperson explained. "But maybe we should ask Elon Musk to lend us his crystal ball."
