Elon Musk Demands: Europeans Are Also 'First Nations' – Historians Despair

When you consider that Vikings were also once 'First Nations'...

🐦 ORIGINAL TWEET

If one is to use the term “First Nations” or “Indigenous Peoples” or “Native Americans” in the Americas and Antipodes, then, in fairness, it should also apply to English, French, Spanish and other such peoples in Europe

In an unexpected move, Elon Musk has turned the historical narrative of humanity on its head. The Tesla CEO argues that if indigenous peoples in America and Australia are called 'First Nations', then Europeans should also receive this status. 'After all, the Celts and Germans were the original inhabitants of Europe before the Romans came,' Musk tweeted in his characteristic style.

Historians baffled

The academic world is deeply divided over Musk's thesis. While some historians describe the tweet as 'deranged', others see an opportunity for a new perspective on European history. 'If we're honest, the Vikings were also pretty cool First Nations,' joked a professor of medieval history at the University of Cambridge.

Musk himself seems unfazed by the controversy. In a follow-up tweet, he suggested that the European Union should henceforth be called the 'First Nations Union'. 'That would make negotiations with the US much more interesting,' he added. The European Commission has not yet responded to the inquiry.
